Delegation of Transporters met Governor Punjab
Lahore: Governor of Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Monday assented several bills passed by the Punjab Assembly. After the approval of the Governor of Punjab, the said bills will become an act and will come into force immediately in the entire Punjab.
According to the details: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan approved the Thalassemia Prevention Bill 2025. The aim of this legislation is early detection, prevention and management of thalassemia and related genetic diseases to reduce the burden of these conditions on the health system. The Punjab Governor approved the Punjab Efficiency and Conservation Agency Bill 2025. The Punjab Governor approved the Nexus University, Sialkot Bill 2025. The Punjab Governor also approved the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Bill 2025. Furthermore, the Punjab Governor approved the Next Institute of Science and Technology Bill 2025. The Punjab Governor approved the University of White Rock Bill 2025. The Punjab Governor has approved the Punjab Spatial Planning Authority Bill 2025, which will be applicable throughout Punjab, provided the government, by notification in the official gazette, exempts any specific area from the application of the Act. The Punjab Governor also approved the Punjab Acid Control Bill 2025. The Punjab Governor also assented the Finance Amendment Bill 2025.
Meanwhile, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that Pakistan remains committed to fostering peace and harmony in the region. International organizations have also rejected India's baseless propaganda. He emphasized that the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force have sent a strong message to the Indian government, and our military leadership is fully equipped to safeguard the country's integrity. He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of public transport companies. Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasized the vital role of public transport companies in facilitating safe and efficient travel for citizens to their destinations. He said that drivers should avoid over speeding so that various accidents on the roads could be averted. He said that transporters pay toll tax and other taxes worth crores of rupees, providing them with facilities should be among the government’s priorities. The Governor of Punjab said that we all have to play a role for the development, prosperity and stability of the country.
On this occasion, the delegation of transporters highlighted key challenges faced by the industry. They cited exorbitant fines, unjustified permit cancellations, and license revocations, resulting in significant financial losses. The delegation also expressed concerns about mistreatment by Motorway and Highway Police, which exacerbates difficulties for transporters. They proposed designated green lanes for slow-moving traffic, including bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and livestock. The Governor assured the delegation of his commitment to addressing these issues and providing support to the transport sector. Representatives from various transport companies were present in the delegation.
