High-Level Pakistani Delegation Led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to Present Pakistan’s Stance in Key World Capitals
Islamabad: A high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is set to embark on a crucial diplomatic mission to major world capitals to present Pakistan’s stance on key regional and global issues. The delegation’s visit comes at a pivotal moment as Pakistan seeks to strengthen international partnerships and articulate its position on pressing matters, including regional security, economic cooperation, and climate change.
The Foreign Office briefed the delegation ahead of its departure, providing comprehensive updates on Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities, recent diplomatic engagements, and strategic objectives. The tour is expected to include visits to Washington, London, Brussels, and Beijing, where discussions will focus on bilateral relations, trade, and geopolitical stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has entrusted Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with the task of presenting Pakistan’s case for peace on the global stage, particularly in the aftermath of recent military escalations with India. The delegation, which also includes Khurram Dastgir, Hina Rabbani Khar, and Jalil Abbas Jilani, will engage with international stakeholders to highlight Pakistan’s position on Indian hostilities and advocate for regional stability.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following the Pahalgam attack last month, leading to a series of military confrontations. On the night of May 6-7, India conducted air strikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, resulting in civilian casualties. Pakistan responded by downing five Indian jets. The situation reached a critical point on May 10, when American intervention facilitated a ceasefire after both sides engaged in tit-for-tat strikes. Despite the truce, India has continued its aggressive posturing, while Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to peace and offered dialogue.
During the crisis, China extended strong diplomatic support to Pakistan, while India found limited international backing, with only Israel offering unequivocal support. Reports indicate that India, isolated in the conflict, has begun retaliating against countries that sided with Pakistan.
In a statement on social media platform X, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had requested him to lead the delegation in presenting Pakistan’s case for peace globally. Expressing his commitment to the task, Bilawal stated that he was honored to accept the responsibility and would work to serve the nation during these challenging times.
The PPP emphasized that the delegation would also counter Indian aggression and false propaganda while informing the international community about the realities of the situation. The diplomatic initiative underscores Pakistan’s efforts to foster peace and stability in the region through constructive engagement with the global community.
