PPP’s Malaika Raza Condemns Brutal Murder of TikTok Influencer Sana Yousaf, Calls for Societal Change
“We must foster a culture of equality and compassion rooted in Islamic values and constitutional rights,”
Islamabad, June 4, 2025 — Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Human Rights Cell General Secretary Malaika Raza has strongly condemned the brutal murder of young TikTok influencer Sana Yousaf, who was allegedly killed for rejecting a boy’s advances. The case has sparked national outrage and renewed calls for systemic change regarding the treatment of women in Pakistani society.
In an official press release, Malaika Raza welcomed the police action in arresting the perpetrator but emphasized that justice in the courts alone is not sufficient. “Society must reflect and commit to teaching our children respect, dignity, and the rights of women—recognising them as human beings, not just sisters, mothers, or daughters,” she said.
Highlighting the imbalance in societal expectations, she criticized the long-standing practice of placing the burden of safety solely on women. “We must educate our boys and men to respect women as human beings, fostering a culture of equality and compassion rooted in Islamic values and constitutional rights,” she stated.
Taking to social media, Raza also drew attention to the disturbing public discourse surrounding the case. In a powerful tweet, she wrote:
“Justice for Noor Mukadam was a crucial victory, but Sana’s brutal murder—simply for saying NO to an entitled man—shocks our conscience. The horrifying comments from so-called moral police and society that question her right to live freely, to exercise her basic rights given by Islam and Pakistan’s Constitution, expose the deep-rooted misogyny that is the real murderer of countless innocent girls.
This isn’t just about one crime; it’s a systemic epidemic of hatred, misogyny, entitlement, and impunity that must be eradicated. Sadly, social taboos have become the new normal, revealing our failure to educate our girls and boys about respecting women’s rights and their fundamental freedom to choose. We are neglecting our future by allowing ignorance and prejudice to breed violence and injustice—our society must wake up before more lives are lost.”
The PPP leader’s statement adds to the growing national outrage over violence against women and calls for urgent reform, both in legal systems and cultural attitudes.
Malaika Raza’s remarks reflect a rising chorus of voices demanding meaningful societal change to protect women’s rights and dignity, and to dismantle the pervasive misogyny that enables such acts of violence.
The PPP’s response echoes growing public demand for gender-sensitive education, legal reforms, and accountability in cases of violence against women.
