Washington, D.C.:
Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and head of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, held an important meeting with U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Cory Booker in Washington.
The meeting took place at the Hart Senate Office Building and was attended by members of Pakistan’s high-level parliamentary delegation.
During the discussion, former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the Senators’ efforts in promoting human rights and expressed grave concern over the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation in the region, particularly in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
The two sides discussed India’s escalating militarism, its blatant human rights abuses, and ongoing violations of international law. Chairman Bhutto Zardari stated that the Indian government has gamified war for political gain, but Pakistan’s responsible response exposed India’s false narrative on the global stage.
He emphasized that Pakistan is willing to work with India to develop a conflict-reduction mechanism to ensure sustainable peace in South Asia.
Chairman Bhutto reiterated that Pakistan remains one of the world’s most affected countries by terrorism and firmly rejected India’s baseless allegations of cross-border terrorism.
Senators Van Hollen and Booker praised Pakistan’s commitment to peace and assured their full support in efforts to maintain regional stability. The meeting also highlighted the potential for enhanced trade and socio-economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
