Thai-Cambodian Border Commission Holds 6th Meeting
Thai ministry said the meeting would play a key role in reducing tensions and laying the groundwork for a sustainable solution.
Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that on 14 June 2025 Ambassador Prasas Prasasvinitchai, who serves as Co-Chair of the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission on the Thai side, had jointly chaired the 6th Meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary (JBC) with H.E. Mr. Lam Chea, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Border Affairs and Co-Chair on the Cambodian side.
The ministry stated that both sides had stressed the importance of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary as the main mechanism to negotiate border issues between the two countries and to work together towards a peaceful solution, as stipulated in the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Survey and Demarcation of Land Boundary.
The ministry added that the meeting would play a key role in reducing tensions and laying the groundwork for a sustainable solution.
According to the report, commissioners from both sides were representatives from relevant technical agencies, including Thailand's Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Royal Thai Survey Department, and Royal Thai Armed Forces, as well as Cambodia's State Secretariat of Border Affairs (at Ministry level), Ministry of Defense, Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Cambodian Governors of all the Thailand-Cambodia border provinces.
