President Asif Ali Zardari paid rich tribute to the national services and supreme sacrifices of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 72nd birth anniversary.

“Shaheed Benazir Bhutto rendered unforgettable struggles for democracy, human dignity, and women's rights,” the President said in his message.

He added that Shaheed Bibi bravely resisted dictatorship with courage and perseverance and led movements for the restoration of democracy in the country.

“She had unwavering belief in the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution,” he emphasized.

President Zardari said Benazir Bhutto’s sacrifices, vision, and deep connection with the people are a collective legacy of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

“Shaheed Bibi championed the cause of women’s social and economic empowerment,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the resolve to strengthen democracy by following the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

“Shaheed Bibi stood as a voice for the marginalized and minorities and longed for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan,” he noted.

The President concluded by stating that adherence to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s principles will ensure protection of every citizen’s fundamental rights, and that her ideology continues to serve as a guiding light for building a just and democratic society.
