The Thai Embassy in London just kicked off "Thailand Showcase 2025" on 27 June at King's Cross, a massive three-day cultural festival celebrating 170 years of Thai-UK diplomatic ties. It's running through 29 June and it's completely free!
Thailand's Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is playing a big role in this, with their Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem leading an interactive exhibit called "Playful Thainess." It's a modern twist on Thai culture using games and digital experiences. They've set up this mock news studio called "Play the News" where visitors can pretend to be anchors reading stories about Thailand, plus there's a gaming zone with Thai horror games based on local folklore.
You've got all the big Thai organizations there showing off - the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Department of International Trade Promotion, Thailand Creative Culture Agency, plus major companies like Thai Beverage and King Power. There are live cooking demos by Thai restaurants, outdoor movie screenings of Thai films, and even talks with popular Thai actors afterward.
The cultural side is pretty impressive too, with performances by Thailand's Bunditpatanasilpa Institute of Fine Arts, a Thai Pride Parade with students and LGBTQ+ groups, as well as a proper Thai market selling everything from local crafts to designer goods. They're even featuring products from smaller Thai entrepreneurs, including stuff from the Khwanta brand up in Nong Bua Lamphu province.
They're expecting over 60,000 people to show up over the three days, which is pretty massive for a cultural event. Sounds like a great way to dive into Thai culture without having to book a flight to Bangkok!
