Thailand and China Celebrate 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Special Thai AirAsia Aircraft
Thailand is expecting to welcome over 4.79 million Chinese tourists, with projected tourism revenue exceeding 270 billion baht
Bangkok — To mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a special Airbus A320 in collaboration with Thai AirAsia. This unique aircraft design is a flying symbol of friendship, cultural harmony, and tourism cooperation between the two nations.
The aircraft proudly displays a custom-designed 50th-anniversary emblem: a golden pearl embraced by a Thai naga and a Chinese dragon, creatively forming the number "50." Alongside this striking visual, passengers are greeted with the warm message: “สวัสดี (Sawasdee) - 你好 (Nihao),” symbolizing unity through language and hospitality.
This special aircraft will serve routes connecting Thailand with 10 major cities across China, further strengthening travel and cultural exchange. Inside the cabin, the design promotes the “5 Must Do in Thailand” tourism campaign, incorporating Thai cultural highlights into everything from luggage compartments to meal trays — offering passengers a truly immersive Thai experience even before landing.
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool expressed optimism about the initiative, stating that the partnership — supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and key airline stakeholders — reflects a growing bilateral relationship and a strong commitment to tourism collaboration.
Looking ahead to 2025, Thailand is expecting to welcome over 4.79 million Chinese tourists, with projected tourism revenue exceeding 270 billion baht, making China one of the top source markets for Thai tourism.
This celebration in the skies marks not only five decades of diplomatic relations but also a promising future of continued cultural and economic ties between Thailand and China.
