Meat prices skyrocketed across Pakistan ahead of Ramazan 2025
Poultry shop owners attribute the rising prices to increased costs from farms
As Ramadan approaches, meat prices across Pakistan have skyrocketed, putting an additional burden on consumers.
In Sialkot, the price of chicken meat has surged by PKR 107 per kg, now selling at PKR 700 per kg. The price of mutton has jumped from PKR 1,800 to PKR 2,700 per kg, while beef prices have risen from PKR 800 to PKR 1,200 per kg.
In Karachi, chicken meat prices continue to rise, with rates exceeding PKR 700 per kg, despite the official price being PKR 650 per kg. The price of live chicken has also soared to PKR 500 per kg.
Concerns Over Ramadan Price Hikes
Poultry shop owners attribute the rising prices to increased costs from farms, while consumers fear further hikes during Ramadan. Many predict that if prices remain unchecked, chicken meat could reach PKR 800 per kg during the holy month.
