LAHORE: Syed Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary of Pakistan People's Party Central Punjab, has expressed serious concern over the escalating flood threat in Punjab and appealed for unity among all political parties and the public.

In his statement, Syed Hassan Murtaza said that "the flood situation is extremely alarming, and everyone must unite." He further stated that Punjab is about to witness the largest flood wave in its history, which will directly affect his constituency, the city, and the entire province.

The People's Party leader emphasized that "a solid strategy is needed to deal with these difficult times." He expressed regret, saying that even today we are victims of chaos and criticism.

Syed Hassan Murtaza expressed solidarity with the farming community, stating: "Our farmer brothers provide food throughout the year, and today we must stand with them."

He appealed to the rulers to "abandon personal ego and help the people" and urged that "focus should be on rehabilitation rather than political discourse."
Syed Hassan Murtaza said: "The people should face the situation with patience and perseverance." He assured that "this is a test from Allah, and God willing, it will pass with goodness."

Murtaza described the current flood situation as a result of government and relevant institutions' failures, saying: "Punjab's flood today is a lament of our failures and shortcomings."

He added that "the government and institutions are not ready to take responsibility, and ministers are making frivolous statements instead of changing priorities."

The People's Party leader severely criticized illegal housing societies and the housing mafia, saying: "Illegal housing societies and obstructions have doubled the destruction."

He further stated: "The housing mafia has swallowed Lahore's fertile lands, destroyed crops, and left riverbanks weakened."

According to Syed Hassan Murtaza, today's flood is submerging millions of acres of land and thousands of homes, but the rulers are not ready to take responsibility. He said: "Millions of people are drowning, but no one is accountable!"

He severely criticized the rulers for making excuses in the name of climate change, saying: "It is easy to make excuses in the name of climate change, but the real culprits are those who have sold the nation's land and future."
