People's Party Holds Rally at Shairaz Garden, PTI Leader Rana Khalid Saeed Joins Party
Sheikhupura/Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party held a major political rally at Shairaz Garden in Sheikhupura where senior PTI leader and President of All Pakistan Tankers Association Rana Khalid Saeed announced his joining of the People's Party along with his colleagues.
Addressing the rally, People's Party Central Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan stated that their leadership has ordered to keep hands light until October 18 and that they believe in doing politics.
He said that laborers and landlords are two major classes in Sheikhupura. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave people identity cards and passports which enabled jobs abroad and overseas Pakistanis send foreign exchange.
Nadeem Afzal Chan further said that the foundation of old age benefits for the working class was also laid by Shaheed Bhutto. He questioned how landlords would compete with the People's Party when landlords got tractors because of the People's Party.
Criticizing the current government, he said that instead of giving money to local farmers, the government is importing wheat worth billions of rupees from abroad. He stated that when wheat prices are correct, all classes cooperate with that farmer and that farmers have always prospered during People's Party's tenure.
Nadeem Afzal Chan said this is a party of the downtrodden classes, not the rich. The People's Party has confronted this oppressive society for forty years. Zia-ul-Haq crushed workers, students and farmers through force.
He stated that a government party has competed with the People's Party in every era and that government people have occupied graveyard and waqf lands.
Nadeem Afzal Chan said that their organizational officials are sitting here and unity must be created among themselves. He announced that Bilawal Bhutto will come to Sheikhupura, God willing.
He said that when People's Party's government comes, it gives jobs, while these oppressors come and sell institutions. When People's Party's government comes, mills will run and employment will be available.
Nadeem Afzal Chan said that today propaganda is made against the People's Party while other parties charge money for meetings with leadership.
He clarified that the People's Party is a national party and they will not raise the slogan of wake up Punjabi wake up, but will raise slogans of wake up Baloch wake up, wake up Pashtun wake up.
Praising the Pakistan Army, he said that when institutions fight, they fight. The Pakistan Army is fighting against terrorists.
Member National Assembly Ali Qasim Gilani said he is grateful to the hosts of this rally, Rana Khalid, Rana Umair and the patriotic people of Sheikhupura. He welcomed Rana Khalid on behalf of the People's Party and said they will serve this city and province together.
He said that the People's Party is the party of laborers, women, farmers, students and poor people. He came from the land of Sufis to tell that the People's Party is not just a party but a family.
Ali Qasim Gilani said he congratulates Rana Khalid for becoming part of this family today. As long as Rajputs were in the People's Party, it was at its peak.
He said that today there is happiness that when Rana Mahmood and Rana Tahir Shabbir from Multan were included, they did a clean sweep. He has no doubt that with the entry of Rajputs, the future belongs to the People's Party, God willing.
Ali Qasim Gilani said that he and Nadeem Afzal Chan together will bring their leader Bilawal Bhutto to Sheikhupura, God willing.
Ali Qasim Gilani said that Pakistan Peoples Party is an ally of the government whose votes put the Prime Minister on the chair. It is our duty and we do not receive any fee for praising any party.
He added that they have kicked the Prime Minister's chair, so what value do smaller chairs have. It is not obligatory upon them to support them. The People's Party is the party of laborers.
Ali Qasim Gilani said that the People's Party has given the Benazir Income Support Program to women, mothers and sisters. He asked what crime was committed by asking for help in BISP for flood victims.
He said they will continue to fight the case of Sheikhupura's people in the National and Punjab Assembly. He warned not to consider their decency as weakness as they are no longer weak after Rana Khalid's arrival.
General Secretary People's Party Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza said he welcomes Rana Khalid Saeed and colleagues to the People's Party family. The friends of Sheikhupura have embraced the People's Party after a long time.
He said that people who love Pakistan Peoples Party still exist today. They will deliver Bilawal Bhutto's message from house to house, street to street and city to city.
Hassan Murtaza said that only the People's Party talks about people's problems and supremacy of constitution and law. Some party wants to free its prisoners while some want something else.
He told friends sitting in the government to explain whether politics means uniting or dividing. The People's Party sits with them but they fight with every party and class including allies.
Hassan Murtaza said that government never runs alone. When the People's Party says to stand with flood victims, they agree. From morning to evening these people will be seen insulting the public.
He said they are sitting in government because of the People's Party. They do not want to weaken them nor do they want to roll up the carpet of democracy.
Hassan Murtaza said that when they talk about farmers, they turn it into a fight between Sindh and Punjab. The People's Party will fight for the rights of its Punjabi brothers.
Rana Khalid Saeed said he is grateful for the arrival of Pakistan Peoples Party leadership and leaders in Sheikhupura.
Ali Qasim Gilani thanked Rana Khalid for helping the people in his constituency.
On the rally stage were People's Party Central Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan, General Secretary People's Party Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza, Member National Assembly Ali Qasim Gilani, Rai Shah Jahan Bhatti, Khan Haji Falak Sher, Asif Khan and other leaders.
