Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for Youth Leadership in Addressing Pakistan’s Challenges
Climate change, Digital rights
Hyderabad, January 26: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has identified **climate change, digital rights protection, and social inequality** as the most pressing challenges facing Pakistan today. Speaking at the convocation ceremony of **Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro,** on Saturday he urged the youth to take a leading role in shaping a better future for the country and emphasized the need for collective action to overcome these challenges.
According to a press release issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman congratulated the graduates and their families, calling the occasion both a celebration and a moment of reflection. He encouraged graduates to honor their roots, uphold their values, and contribute to the country's progress with innovation and inclusivity.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted **Sindh's rich historical significance,** reminding the audience of the province’s heritage as the cradle of the **Indus Valley Civilization.** He praised the ancient civilization's contributions to urban planning and sustainability, citing the advanced drainage systems and grid-like streets of **Mohenjo-Daro** as a testament to their foresight and respect for nature.
He called on the graduates to carry forward this legacy by addressing **climate change challenges** in Sindh, which is at the frontline of rising sea levels, erratic weather patterns, and devastating floods. Despite these challenges, he emphasized that they present **opportunities for meaningful change.** He encouraged graduates to develop solutions such as **renewable energy technologies, climate-resilient infrastructure, and sustainable agriculture** to ensure a more equitable and sustainable future.
Addressing the challenges of the **digital era,** Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed the need for safeguards against **data privacy breaches, misinformation, and cybercrime.** He proposed a **Digital Bill of Rights** to ensure universal internet access, protect privacy, and combat misinformation, emphasizing that technology must serve humanity, not the other way around.
He urged the graduates to use their skills to establish guiding principles for the digital age, just as the Indus Valley Civilization set standards for fairness in trade and governance.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised MUET for its academic excellence and international achievements, noting the university’s recognition in the **Times Higher Education rankings** and success in global competitions such as the **Huawei competition in Riyadh** and the **Digital Pakistan Cyber Security Hackathon.** He acknowledged the university's role in nurturing future leaders, mentioning that several key figures in the Sindh government, including the Chief Minister and Speaker of the Assembly, are proud MUET alumni.
Encouraging the graduates to foster unity and collaboration, he said: *"Your time at Mehran University has shown the transformative power of teamwork. Build bridges, not walls. Seek unity over division."*
A Call for Youth Empowerment
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari concluded his address by expressing immense pride in the graduates' accomplishments and reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment. He stressed that their degrees are not just academic achievements but keys to unlocking opportunities and uplifting their communities and the country.
Congratulating the graduates and their families, he called their achievements a beacon of hope for a brighter and more prosperous Pakistan.
