April 4, 1979 marks a dark day in the history of Pakistan when, under a dictatorial conspiracy, the people’s leader, the champion of democracy, and the architect of Pakistan, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was sent to the gallows. His martyrdom remains a milestone in the struggle for democracy and people’s rights, and he continues to live on in the hearts of millions.

In a joint statement, the office bearers of Pakistan Peoples Party Canada, PPP Toronto, PPP Alberta, and PPP Calgary stated that Shaheed Bhutto gave Pakistan its first unanimous constitution, laid the foundation for making the country a nuclear power, organized the historic Islamic Summit Conference to unite the Muslim world, and waged an unparalleled struggle to secure the rights of laborers, farmers, and the oppressed classes. His vision and courage will forever be remembered in history.

In the joint statement, PPP Canada President Javed Gujar, General Secretary Tahir Rao, and other leaders from PPP Toronto, Alberta, and Calgary reaffirmed their commitment to carry forward the mission of Shaheed Bhutto. Under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, they pledged to continue and strengthen the struggle for democracy, equality, and the rights of the people. The mission of Shaheed Bhutto still guides us today, and we will keep striving to fulfill that dream.
