Hafiz Naeem and Shahbaz Sharif discusses reduction in energy prices
Lahore: April 05: Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during which the two leaders discussed the reduction in electricity tariffs and the latest situation in Gaza.
Expressing his views on social media platform X, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman welcomed the government’s announcement regarding a cut in power tariffs. However, he emphasized the need for further reductions to provide full relief to the public.
He stressed that despite the recent announcement, there remains significant room to lower electricity prices further. He urged the government to renegotiate contracts with all Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to ensure meaningful relief for citizens.
On the issue of Gaza, the JI chief called for Pakistan to raise a stronger voice and play a more active role in highlighting the plight of the Palestinian people and advocating for their rights on the global stage.
