The decision was made during a key meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Gujranwala Division at the Governor House Lahore, chaired by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, President of PPP Central Punjab. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider attended the meeting as a special guest.
On this occasion, a 14-member committee was formed under the leadership of Asif Bashir Bhagat to finalize the party's candidate for the PP-52 by-election. The committee includes Malik Tahir, Abdul Razzaq Saleemi, Intiaz Safdar Warraich, Mian Azhar Hassan Dar, Ijaz Samma, Khawaja Owais Mushtaq, Riaz Hussain Shah, Malik Zahir Awan, Muhammad Azhar Dial, Rana Mahmood Ashraf, Shahid Butt, Ahsan Zafar Ghumman, and Kashif Gujjar.
Addressing the gathering, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party would actively participate in the PP-52 by-election, emphasizing that the party still holds a strong connection with the masses. General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza added that PPP's vote bank remains intact and only requires mobilization.
