Lahore: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi held a special meeting with senior journalists at the Governor House Lahore yesterday, where key provincial and national issues were discussed. Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former Punjab Assembly member Sania Kamran was also present on the occasion.
Governor Kundi emphasized the significance of the recent Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting, describing it as a major step toward resolving long-standing water disputes among provinces. He stated that the CCI meeting had paved the way for a solution to the water issue. Furthermore, he stressed that since the situation is already sensitive in two provinces, no additional grievances should arise in Sindh.
Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating infrastructure and security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the governor cited the example of a 25-kilometer road in Kram district that remains closed due to militant presence. He remarked that the provincial government's failure to restore even this small stretch of road was a clear indication of incompetence. He also voiced serious concerns over rising lawlessness in the province and demanded thorough investigations from relevant authorities.
Governor Kundi added that the law and order situation in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the merged tribal districts is equally alarming, requiring immediate attention and concrete measures for stability and development. He reaffirmed his commitment to raising these issues at high-level forums and working with all political and provincial stakeholders to ensure peace and progress in the country.
