*Sialkot (Correspondent)* – The Peoples Party convened an emergency meeting following an incident where party banners and flexes were allegedly removed during the arrival of its candidate, Hassan Murtaza, in Sialkot’s PP-52 constituency on April 29, 2025. The incident occurred as Murtaza arrived in the area for a scheduled scrutiny process.
Presiding over the meeting, Syed Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary of the Peoples Party for Central Punjab, strongly criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), labeling the removal of banners as a "premeditated conspiracy." He asserted that the disappearance of party banners during leadership visits across Punjab was "no coincidence," emphasizing that a similar incident in Daska had solidified his suspicions.
Murtaza condemned PML-N’s actions as "shameful" and a "lowly tactic," accusing the rival party of "kicking others when they are down but grabbing collars once the crisis passes." He warned that if PML-N continued such practices, public anger would "sweep away its government." Stressing the resilience of his party, Murtaza declared, "Peoples Party workers are not plants growing in pots; they are accustomed to fighting for public rights despite all pressures."
The General Secretary made it clear that the party would not tolerate PML-N’s actions silently, vowing to deliver a "befitting response" and ensure the ruling party’s leadership "feels the pain." Attendees at the meeting expressed deep regret over what they termed PML-N’s violation of democratic traditions and reiterated their commitment to continuing protest campaigns.
